BGCP's mission is to provide the low-income youth of our community with the opportunities they need to achieve school success.  Their vision is that all young people, if they work hard, can live fulfilling lives with a good education, a fair paying job, decent house, and the ability to raise a family.  They want kids' futures to depend upon their own actions and less upon the circumstances into which they were born.

This year, during Distance Learning, they are offering two programs to support learners -- CREWS and Learning Hubs.  For more information and to sign up, click on the link below.

City Year AmeriCorps members serve in schools all day, every day, preparing students with the social, emotional and academic skills and mindsets to succeed in school and in life. Students stay in school, are more engaged and perform better academically when they feel connected to at least one adult at school. CityYear's role is to ensure that students have the relationships and resources to help them thrive in and out of school. CityYear believes that all students can succeed and that developing the skills and mindsets of children and young adults contributes to strong, vibrant communities—outcomes that benefit all of us.

CityYear Americorp members are supporting teachers in classrooms and in the yard. This year, CityYear is offering a before-school tutoring and homework help center to support our student's academic success. The program begins at 7am and parents are able to drop off their students anytime between 7-7:45am. To complete an application for this program, visit the front office.

Ravenswood Education Foundation

All children deserve the best possible education. The four elementary schools and one middle school in East Palo Alto and eastern Menlo Park that comprise the Ravenswood City School District are filled with students with big dreams. Yet they also face underfunding, low teacher salaries and retention, and overwhelming socioeconomic challenges. These issues lead to school performance that lags that of neighboring school districts, resulting in an uneven playing field at the start of high school and a community that under-leverages some of our best talent.

REF's approach to these challenges is to work with the visionary and talented leaders in Ravenswood and create a community where teachers are supported, students are inspired, and the trajectory of lives is changed forever.

Hundreds of dedicated volunteers, strong community and corporate partners, and a growing body of individuals and family donors are committed to the idea that together, we can achieve excellence in ALL our local schools.

Reading Partners

Reading Partners is a national nonprofit that mobilizes communities to provide students with the proven, individualized reading support they need to read at grade level by fourth grade. Reading is the foundation for all future learning. The ability to read transforms lives and empowers children and communities to reach their full potential. Research shows that students who read at grade level by fourth grade have a greater opportunity to succeed in school and beyond. Reading Partners works with under-resourced schools and engage volunteer reading partners to work one-on-one with students who struggle with reading. Volunteers provide hour-long tutoring sessions to students— following a structured, evidence-based curriculum developed with an expert team of curriculum advisors. Reading Partners has been successfully providing volunteer-led, one-on-one literacy tutoring to K-5 students in three counties across Silicon Valley.
