Thank you to all of my parents who attended our Family Art Night/Dia de los Muertos. I also want to thank all of my parents who brought food and beverages to our Family Art Night. It was very much appreciated!
I think all of my parents have signed up, but if we are missing any, please join our remind app group using this link:
We are now reading a wonderful book called In the Year of the Boar and Jackie Robinson by Bette Bao Lord. It is about a girl, Shirely, who immigrates with her parents to Brooklyn, New York, from China. The year is 1947 and Jackie Robinson is making history by breaking the color barrier in Major League Baseball. Shirely is becoming more American each day as she attends public school in Brooklyn and navigates the "in's and out's" of life in Brooklyn for an immigrant. As our last book Maniac Magee dealt with peer to peer relationships, as well as bigger societal issues surrounding race, so does this book. We are also working on writing a realistic fictional narratives using Google Classroom.
We have moved into multiplication! Long division is just around the corner! Please make sure your child is studying their multiplication flashcards for 15 minutes each night, and don't forget to sign their log sheet!
A reading log should be completed and signed off on every night, including weekends. Students are required to read for 30 minutes every night. Please remember to sign the reading log each night!
